Apple’s Mixed Reality Headset Reportedly Delayed To 2023

According to the rumors we’ve been hearing for a while now, Apple’s first mixed reality headset is said to be making its debut in 2022, which was rather exciting given how much we have been hearing about it. However, according to a recent Bloomberg report, that will no longer be the case as the headset is said to have been delayed to 2023.

Apparently the delay is due to several technical issues that Apple is having that will result in the device being delayed to next year. It seems that there are problems with both software and hardware, like its cameras and also how it is said to be experiencing overheating problems.

As some of you might recall, Apple delayed and ultimately cancelled the launch of its AirPower charging mat due to overheating issues, so hopefully this won’t be the case with the mixed reality headset. However, given that this will be a new major product category, we doubt that Apple will cancel their plans.

According to the report, Apple could potentially still unveil the device in 2022 towards the end of the year, but it might only reach customers in 2023. It also says that Apple is planning to use WWDC 2023 to focus on helping developers build up the ecosystem for its mixed reality device.

In all fairness, Apple never confirmed their plans for a mixed reality headset so a launch date was never confirmed, so it’s hard to say that this is truly a “delay”, but those who are eager to see what the company is coming up with will have to wait a bit longer.
