Canon’s New EOS RC Combines A Cinema And Stills Camera Into One Body

These days, pretty much all cameras come with the ability to record video, with the higher-end cameras supporting resolution like 4K at 60fps. However, for the most part, a lot of these cameras were designed with photography in mind, meaning that videographers would probably need a dedicated video camera if they wanted to get the most out of their shots.

However, it appears that Canon is trying to streamline that process as the company has announced the EOS RC. This is a full frame mirrorless camera that combines features and functionality of a cinema camera along with a stills camera, meaning that on paper, you should be able to get the best of both worlds.

It features a 45MP CMOS sensor with dual pixel autofocus and can also record video of up to 8K in resolution and 60fps. There is also an active cooling system built into the camera to prevent it from overheating when capturing video. There is also support for Canon’s Cinema Raw Light, HLG orPQ formats, XF-AVC codec, and Canon’s Log 3 gamma.

That being said, given that this combines the functionality of two cameras in one, it will not come cheap. The Canon EOS RC is expected to be available for purchase this coming March where it will be priced at $4,499.
