Development On Windows 12 Could Start Next Month

Windows 11 was announced and released not too long ago, but apparently it seems that Microsoft is not wasting any time and could already be looking to start development on the next major version of Windows as soon as next month.

This is according to German website Deskmodder who claims to have been told by their sources that March 2022 is when Windows 12 development could begin. It seems a bit incredulous, but we should point out that major OS releases are a big deal and can impact the way we use our computers.

This means that Microsoft starting work early on Windows 12 is not a completely outrageous idea, but keep in mind that just because work on Windows 12 could start soon doesn’t mean that we will be seeing its release anytime soon either. This approach is how most companies would typically approach their products, where work on the next generation could already have begun even before the current version is released.

This gives companies time to test things, find out what works and what doesn’t, way before it is released. That being said, assuming Microsoft is following a similar timeline, we expect that Windows 11 will see about 5-6 years of use before the next version is announced, so don’t hold your breath for Windows 12 just yet.
