Latest macOS Beta Fixes MacBook Battery Drain Bug
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Recently, it was discovered that the latest macOS 12.2 update was causing battery drain for Apple’s MacBook laptops. Basically what happened is that when users put their laptops to sleep, they would wake up the next day and discover that either the battery has completely run out or it would be drained significantly.

This was due to a Bluetooth-related bug where if users had Bluetooth devices paired to their laptops, it would cause it to constantly wake up during sleep which in turn causes the battery to drain unexpectedly. However, it looks like this issue has since been fixed in the latest macOS 12.3 beta 2.

We’re not sure when Apple is expected to push out the update for macOS 12.3, but at the very least we now know that the issue has been resolved, so it might be an update that users will want to keep an eye out for.

In the meantime, if you do own a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro running macOS 12.2 with Bluetooth devices connected to it, you can opt to shutdown the laptop entirely to prevent this battery drain. Alternatively, you could also disable Bluetooth before you put your laptop to sleep which is also another valid workaround if you don’t like fully shutting down your computer.
