Mophie Launches New MagSafe iPhone Travel Stand

Do you like having your phone upright while you charge it? If you do, then you might be interested to learn that Mophie has launched a new stand for the iPhone that features MagSafe that is also compact and could actually make a great traveling companion save for one catch.

The stand itself can be folded down and measures 0.8-inches thick, so it’s actually rather compact and can be easily slipped into a backpack. It comes with metal hinges that allows users to adjust the viewing angle, and it also supports both portrait and landscape orientation so you can use the stand to watch videos or make video calls.

However, and here’s where we think it’s a bit of a wasted opportunity, is that despite the stand supporting MagSafe, it doesn’t actually charge your iPhone. Instead, the inclusion of the MagSafe magnets is simply meant to hold your iPhone in place. This means that if you need to charge your iPhone at the same time, you will need to do so using a cable.

Like we said, it’s a bit of a wasted opportunity, but if you’re more interested in having a stand rather than a charger, this will work just fine. It is priced at around $40 which is admittedly kind of pricey. Alternatively, if you are looking for a travel charger, Mophie did unveil a 3-in-1 MagSafe charger back in January that could also be worth taking a look at.
